James Cullen (mathematician)

James Cullen (born April 19, 1867 in Drogheda , † December 7, 1933 ) was an Irish Jesuit priest and mathematician .

He first studied mathematics at Trinity College in Dublin . After joining the Jesuit order, he studied philosophy and theology from 1892 . He was ordained a priest on July 1, 1901 . From 1905 he taught mathematics in the Jesuit boarding school Mount St. Mary's College in Derbyshire ( England ). That year he published an essay on number theory on numbers of form . These numbers are now called Cullen's numbers after him .
