James Darmesteter

James Darmesteter (born March 28, 1849 in Château-Salins , † October 19, 1894 in Maisons-Laffitte near Paris ) was a French orientalist .

Life

Darmesteter studied comparative linguistics and religious studies in Paris . He was particularly interested in Old Persian . In 1885 he became a professor at the Collège de France .
