James Deen (* 7. February 1986 in Pasadena , California as Bryan Matthew Sevilla ) is an American porn star .

Life

Deen grew up in an upper-middle-class Jewish family in Pasadena, California, the son of a NASA rocket researcher and a computer science engineer. He began his career as a porn actor in 2004 at the age of eighteen with the film Art School Sluts . Initially, he mainly played roles in the only segment of the heterosexual porn industry that is used by men of this age: the so-called MILF films, in which more mature women hang out with mostly younger partners. In 2005 he met the producer Chico Hwang, who stood by his side as a mentor until his drug death in 2007 and helped him achieve his breakthrough. To date, Deen has appeared in over 1000 hardcore productions. In 2009 and 2013 he received an AVN Award for best male performer , the most important prize in the industry. In 2010, he was also recognized in the same category by the industry magazine XBIZ . He was also nominated 66 times for AVN and XBIZ awards and won various other prizes in the porn industry such as XRCO Awards .

As Amanda Hess notes on her profile for Good magazine , Deen has carved out a niche for herself in the porn industry by making him look like he doesn't belong there. In 2013 he took on a leading role in the film The Canyons , a production outside of the porn industry.

On November 28, 2015, his ex-girlfriend Stoya , who also works as a porn actress, accused him of rape via Twitter , and two days later, two colleagues, Ashley Fires and Tori Lux, made similar accusations public. A total of nine women accused him of the crime. Deen denies the allegations. Several studios associated with Deen for many years then terminated any further collaboration or took films in which he had worked from the distribution. After the rape allegations, Deen is doing better than before.
