Stoya (born June 15, 1986 in Wilmington , North Carolina ) is an American porn actress .

Life

Stoya grew up in North Carolina and began taking dance lessons at the age of three . She graduated from high school at the age of 16 and studied arts and design in Delaware for a semester . She then worked as a secretary , leaflet distributor, and Gogo dancer in Pennsylvania . She began her career as a porn actress in 2006. Since 2007 she has been in possession of an exclusive contract as a porn actress for the production studio Digital Playground . In 2009 she appeared in the award-winning short film Kingpin of Pain , which was created within two days as part of the so-called 48-hour project, as Kamikazin Shegun 5000.

In 2012 the photographer and filmmaker Clayton Cubitt shot the first episode of the short film series Hysterical Literature with Stoya . The idea: A young woman sits at a table and reads from a book while a vibrator stimulates her to orgasm in a few minutes. Only the woman's face and clothed torso can be seen. That same year, she was the focus of rock singer Amanda Palmer's music video Do It With a Rockstar . In 2013 she played a supporting role in Evan Weinstein's film Leaving Circadia , and even a leading role in Sean Buttimer's short film The Pilgrim .

In 2015, Stoya accused porn actor James Deen , with whom she was in the past, of raping her. Since then, eight other women have made similar allegations against him, which he has denied himself.

Stoya is of Scottish , Serbian, and Puerto Rican descent. Her stage name is a short version of the maiden name of her Serbian grandmother and was her nickname even before her career.
