MILF ( acronym for English Mom / Mum / Mother I'd Like to Fuck , literally translated: "Mom I would like to fuck "), in short MILF / Milf ( / mɪlf / ), is a slang term used by the film American Pie expression for middle-aged women who, from the point of view of other people, represent an attractive sexual partner , and later popularized by the porn industry .

Word history

The term MILF was used in slang by college students on the American West Coast in the early 1990s and was first noted in 1995 by linguist Laurel Sutton in a gender studies anthology as meaning “mother I'd like to fuck” . He was best known for his use in the script of the teen comedy American Pie in 1999, by Adam Herz . There, the protagonist Janine Stifler ("Stifler's Mom") was referred to as MILF ( Germanized to "MIGF" in the German dubbing ). The role was played by actress Jennifer Coolidge . “MILF” was then used as the title of various porn film series of the same name and is now used as a term for a genre of pornography that focuses on middle-aged women. The spelling “Milf” is now also used without capital letters.

Use of terms

The term “MILF” is used as a contemporary phenomenon in many different contexts. The term, according to the time in 2015, has been little explored by sexology. The term arose on the Internet - especially in the context of porn Internet platforms , in which MILF has been a popular category for years. However, it was widespread and broadly adapted by “a movement from the people”. The counterpart of "DILF" appeared in the media with a slight time lag and without the connotation with pornography. The band Fountains of Wayne released a music video in 2004 with the song Stacy's Mom , which showed Rachel Hunter in the role of a "MILF". The band Pungent Stench released a song on their album Ampeauty called Got MILF? . In September 2011, the German rapper King Orgasmus One released an album of 18 titled "MILF".

The “MILF” phenomenon is also reflected in literature and in television programs such as Desperate Housewives , The Real Housewives of Orange County and the Hottest Mom in America competition . During the US presidential campaign in 2008, the term VPilf (Vice Presidents I'd like to fuck) was created. The Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin was named after MILF . The parodic porn film Who's Nailin 'Paylin? In its subtitle "Adventures of a Hockey MILF" refers to statements by Palin (she called herself a hockey mom ).

Around the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton , the term QILF (Queen I'd like to fuck) was spread mainly on internet blogs and Facebook ; the expression PILF (Princess ...) is also in circulation. T-shirts with this slogan are now being sold. Queen Rania of Jordan is also known as QILF. Likewise, attractive male stars like David Beckham , Cristiano Ronaldo or Bruce Willis in middle or advanced age are referred to as DILFs in the relevant rainbow press or in trendy magazines.

German speaking

In Germany, the term was picked up in 2011 by the initiative "MILFs against Merkel" from the environment of the satirical party Die PARTEI . The campaign served to support the elections for the Berlin House of Representatives in 2011 , in which the relevant slogan was also used on an election poster.

The German writer and musician Heinz Strunk released the album Die Gläserne Milf in 2017 as a soundtrack for the film adaptation of his novel Jürgen . In his radio play podcast Family Constellation and his Titanic column Heinz Strunks intimate box , he mentions the fictional medieval musical play "The Knilch and the Milf".

The German author and stand-up artist Jasmina Kuhnke uses the pseudonym “Quattromilf” to refer to her fourfold motherhood.

In 2020, the German streaming portal Joyn started the dating program MOM - Milf or Missy , in which two men are asked to choose from 14 women between the ages of 24 and 46. The Mayor of Munich Katrin Habenschaden and the President of the Bavarian State Parliament, Ilse Aigner, criticized the name of the program and in particular the large-scale poster campaign as discriminatory. After 111 complaints had been received by the advertising advisory service, the broadcaster withdrew the poster campaign, changed the name of the program to MOM - The New Dating Show, and partly set new music to it. The use of words by the participants and the reporting on the program were not affected by the change. In an interview, guest presenter Natascha Ochsenknecht answered the question asked in the stopped poster campaign: “Is MILF a compliment?” She understood the word as a compliment - “MILF is actually a compliment, unfortunately not everyone understood it.”

The actress Vicky Vette received an AVN Award for “Best Tease Performance” in the film Metropolis in 2005 at the age of 40 . In 2007 Teri Weigel made a comeback as a MILF in American MILF at the age of 45 .

In 2008, for the first time, there were two categories on the subject of MILF at the so-called “Porn Oscars”, the US AVN Awards: The winner in the “Best MILF Release” category was the film It's a Mommy Thing!
