James Donald Murray (born November 20, 1946 in Helena , Montana ) is a former American luge athlete .
Murray took part in the Luge World Championships in 1970 , 1971 and 1975 . He also took part in the Winter Olympics three times: 1968 in Grenoble , France and 1972 in Sapporo , Japan, he finished 28th; in Innsbruck , Austria, he improved to 26th place in 1976 . In the time between his first two Winter Games, he served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany and Vietnam , among others .
Murray graduated from the University of Montana . After working as a ski instructor for some time, he worked as a real estate agent in Denver , Montana and later in Pinehurst , North Carolina .
