James Edward Goettsche

James Edward Goettsche (* 1943 in Los Angeles , California ) is the titular organist of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican , liturgical organist of the Pope and professor at the Conservatory in Frosinone .

Life

James Goettsche, child of a family of German emigrants from Schleswig-Holstein , studied music at San Francisco State University . Fernando Germani , the organist of St. Peter's Basilica , brought him to Rome at the Conservatory of Music. First he was the organist in the Basilica of Santa Francesca Romana in the Roman district of Campitelli . In 1989 he became organist at St. Peter's Basilica. In 1985 he published a book on Bach's organ music . Goettsche speaks eleven languages.
