James Gathers
James Gathers (born June 13, 1930 in Sumter , South Carolina , † June 8, 2002 in Alcoa , Tennessee ) was an American athlete .
At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 , Gathers won the bronze medal in the 200-meter run behind his compatriots Andy Stanfield and Thane Baker .
In 1954 he became the Canadian 100 yard champion .
