James Thompson

James Thompson (born April 26, 1974 in Twickenham ) is a British automobile racing driver .

Career

2008 season

Thompson went karting in 1990 , a year later he switched to the British Formula Vauxhall Junior for two seasons. In 1993 he took part in the British Production Car Championship, where he became champion. From 1994 to 2004, 2006 and 2009 he drove in the British Touring Car Series , in 2002 and 2004 he won this championship. In addition to his involvement there, he was seen in the DTM in 2000 and in the European Touring Car Championship in 2001, 2003 and 2004 . From 2005, Thompson competed continuously in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC for short) and reached 3rd place overall in 2007. In the 2008 season he also drove in the Danish Touring Car Championship . In 2009 he won the FIA European Touring Car Cup . At the start of the WTCC season, Thompson celebrated his comeback in a Lada Granta in Monza (Italy) in March 2013 . He only started in qualifying, however, as his team-mate Alexei Dudukalo turned both Lada into a total write-off in a collision with Thompson in the first chicane of the circuit.
