Jamie Langfield (born December 22, 1979 in Paisley ) is a former Scottish football goalkeeper .

Career

Jamie Langfield began his career at Dundee FC , for whom he made his professional debut at the age of 17 in the 1996/97 season. After the young goalkeeper was used in the following four seasons in a total of 33 league games, Langfield was loaned from September 2003 to January 2004 to the Raith Rovers. For the Rovers , he was five times in the First Division between the posts. After the loan expired, Langfield moved to Partick Thistle during the winter transfer period . By the end of the season he was used ten times for the Glasgow club from the Maryhill district . In May 2004, the goalkeeper signed a one-year contract with Dunfermline Athletic to replace Marco Ruitenbeek and Derek Stillie , who had left the club at the end of the 2003/04 season. Under team manager David Hay , Langfield did not appear for Athletic either in the Premier League or in any of the cup competitions in Scotland. The now 25-year-old goalkeeper then switched to FC Aberdeen , where he signed a three-year contract. Initially considered as a second goalkeeper behind Ryan Esson , he played during the season under coach Jimmy Calderwood as number 1. In the following seasons, Langfield established himself as a regular goalkeeper except for the 2011/12 season when he was replaced by David González and Jason Brown , after which he was loaned to Forfar Athletic for a season . In August 2015, Langfield left the Dons after ten years of club membership and moved to FC St. Mirren .
