Like his father, he is a mountain guide . In 1996 he also reached the summit of Mount Everest. In 1998 the IMAX documentary Everest - Summit Without Mercy was released . Jamling's task was to lead the expedition to the summit as the leading Sherpa and to enable the expedition team to film the Himalayas and especially Everest. Directed by David Breashears , he also plays a leading role in the film.
Jamling is already the 10th member of the Norgay family to stand on the "top of the world". His nephew Tashi Tenzing also climbed Mount Everest in 1997.
He was present at the base camp on the Everest 50th Anniversary Expedition (May 2003) of Peter Hillary , the son of the first climber Sir Edmund Hillary .

To this day he leads many trekking tours himself as a mountain guide and heads for destinations in Sikkim, Bhutan and Nepal.
