Reception of the dissertation

Christian Hillgruber rated the dissertation The Iraq War 2003 in the light of the return of the just war in the FAZ as stimulating, albeit a bit columnist. Robert van Ooyen thinks that Schulze has analyzed “the return of the doctrine of the“ bellum iustum ”under political-theoretical and ideological aspects” well and that the work closes a gap. Günter Maschke comes to the conclusion in the new right Junge Freiheit that on the one hand he is "rambling and associating", but the book available as a book is "clear-sighted and courageous in the important points". Wiggo Mann notes in the secession , which is also part of the new right spectrum , that Schulze developed the thesis through his material-rich reconstruction that “it is less the just war with its proportionality of means and a limitation of hostilities that is returning than the saint, aggravated by secularization War". Ulrich Lappenküper and Reiner Marcowitz note that Schulze, in his “trend-setting dissertation, made a historical contextual update of the conception of the Bellum iustum in the context of an interpretation of the Iraq war”.
