Jan Böttcher (* 1973 in Lüneburg ) is a German writer and musician .

Life

He studied German and Scandinavian literature in Stockholm and Berlin and has been working as a writer and musician in Berlin since 1993. In 1997, together with Basti Windisch and Peter Herzau, he founded the band Herr Nilsson , which released four CDs on the label KOOK , which he co-founded . In 2008 his solo album from the other end of the hall was released , also on KOOK . Böttcher also appeared regularly as a songwriter afterwards, but works primarily as a writer. In his early novels and stories, he illuminates adolescence sometimes autobiographically ( Lina or: Das kalte Moor ), sometimes contemporary ( Nachglow takes place in the former GDR restricted area on the Elbe), and also very presently ( Das Lied von Do und Lassen ist ein School novel with a digital note). Böttcher's prose uses the means of realistic storytelling and is very interested in social systems and milieus. The present is captured less by typical, simplistic figure constellations than by the demands and excessive demands of the figures in private and professional fields. The novel Y from 2016 is set in Hamburg and Pristina and tells of the impossible love between a Kosovar Albanian art activist and a German computer game designer. In the spring of 2018, the novel Das Kaff, a survey of the north German province, will be published , a scenic round about an architect who is forced to return to his hometown.

In 2015 his song translations by Ian Curtis ( So This Is Permanence by Rowohlt Verlag) were published. Jan Böttcher is an active member of the German national football team ( Autonama ).
