Jan David Zocher (born February 12, 1791 in Haarlem ; † July 8, 1870 there ), known in the professional world as Jan David II Zocher , was a Dutch architect , town planner and landscape architect . He introduced the English Landscape Park in the Netherlands and designed numerous classicist buildings.

Between 1810 and 1822 he expanded the park of Biljoen Castle . In 1834 Zocher completely redesigned the huge park from the 18th century , located in the 400 hectare Linschoten estate in the province of Utrecht , and provided it with a series of artistically designed waterways and a bridge. Many rare plants, such as Star of Bethlehem , Ramsons , squill , wild hyacinths . In the meantime the estate has been converted into a landscape protection area.

Zocher also designed parts of the Te Linschoten mansion , at least the right reception hall, of which only the neo-Gothic chimney remained, as well as a cleverly designed secret passage from the library for the property originally built by Johan Strick (1583–1648) and subjected to several renovations.

Zocherplantsoen , a Utrecht park, was designed by him in 1829. He began the execution in 1850 together with his son Louis Paul Zocher and should last until 1870. He also designed the famous Amsterdam Vondelpark with his son in 1864. Furthermore, "Het Park" in Rotterdam was designed by Zocher around 1870.

The most famous building he designed was the Beurs van Zocher (Stock Exchange von Zocher) - where the De Bijenkorf department store is today - which he designed based on the model of a Greek temple. The stock exchange was inaugurated on September 10, 1845 by King Willem II . As early as 1903 it was torn down because it had become too small and had to give way to a more spacious building, the Beurs van Berlage (Stock Exchange of Berlage).

His father of the same name Jan David Zocher (1763–1817), called to distinguish it from his son Jan David I Zocher , and his brother Karel George Zocher (1796–1863) were landscape architects.
