Jan Dobraczyński

Jan Dobraczyński (born April 20, 1910 in Warsaw ; † March 5, 1994 ibid) was a Polish writer, journalist and politician.

He first studied law and economics. During World War II Dobraczyński was a member of the Catholic National Party, which also campaigned for Jews and other minorities. As the head of the Organization for Abandoned Children in Warsaw, he helped the otaegota to place and save Jewish children in Catholic monasteries. For this he was added to the list of the Righteous Among the Nations by Yad Vashem . For his services in world service, he received the rank of brigadier general . From 1952 to 1956 and from 1985 to 1989 he was a member of the Sejm , the Polish parliament. In the 1980s he served as chairman of the Patriotic Front for National Revival .

Books (selection)

Dobraczyński, an avowed Catholic, wrote in his books primarily on philosophical and ecclesiastical subjects. A total of around 70 books have been published by him.
