Jan Dreßler

Jan Dreßler (born March 28, 1961 in Greiz ) is a German specialist in forensic medicine . He has been Professor of Forensic Medicine at the Medical Faculty of the University of Leipzig since 2009, making him the only professor of forensic medicine in Saxony .

Career

Dreßler completed his medical studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin and the Technical University of Dresden between 1981 and 1986 . In 1987 he received his doctorate as Dr. med. and in 1999 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on "The importance of endothelial adhesion molecules, particularly selectins, for the immunohistochemical diagnosis of wound age" at the Carl Gustav Carus Medical Faculty of the TU Dresden. This was followed by stays abroad as a “visiting scientist” and “senior lecturer” at the Institute of Pathology , Forensic Medicine Unit at the University of Edinburgh and the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Wisconsin – Madison .

In 2000 he was appointed private lecturer and senior physician . 2003 January Dressler received the reputation as a professor of forensic medicine at the Medical Faculty Carl Gustav Carus Dresden University of Technology, having already since 2001, the Institute of Forensic Medicine of the Medical Faculty Carl Gustav Carus led the Technical University. In 2009 he accepted the chair for forensic medicine at the University of Leipzig and became director of the institute of the same name.

Memberships

Dreßler is u. a. Member of the German Society for Forensic Medicine , the International Acadamy of Legal Medicine and the German Society for Parentage Assessment and thus expert reviewer for so-called paternity reports.

Dreßler has published more than 150 scientific papers.
