criticism

  • “If you look at Jan Fekete's previous oeuvre, you can see up to ten different approaches and efforts in his work on 'Painting in Space'. But Jan Fekete also claims the opposite pole to the gestural from the informal painterly approach ... Wieland Schmid wrote the formulation: 'Controlled spontaneity - emotional calculation'. It is precisely in this area of tension of the greatest opposites that Jan Fekete moves despite all his independence. I only want to name a few contemporary painters as examples for others who also go this way: Emilio Vedova, Frank Stella and Hans Hoffmann. " . Prof. Jürgen Reipka , Munich, 1996
  • His approach is unique in Slovakia, at most comparable to the concept of the trio Stano Filko, Milos Laky and Jan Zavarsky - "White room in white room" (1973-74), where the aim was to demonstrate a room by depersonalizing the painting an "infinite" area. Fekete doesn't paint pictures. He "does the painting". Vladimir Beskid, Kosice / SK, 1994
