Jan Isaak Samuel Zonneveld

Jan Isaak Samuel Zonneveld (born August 31, 1918 in Kampen , Netherlands , † June 3, 1995 in Zeist ) was a Dutch geologist .

Zonneveld studied from 1936 to 1941 at the University of Leiden . In 1947 he received his doctorate from Isaäk Martinus van der Vlerk (1892–1974) with a thesis on the Peel raised bog and its surroundings in the Quaternary . From 1948 to 1952 he worked at the Centraal Bureau Luchtkartering (Central Office for Aerial Mapping) in Paramaribo . From 1958 to 1983 he was professor of geology, geomorphology and chorology at the University of Utrecht . In 1984 he was elected to the German Leopoldina .
