Jan Jakobs Janssen

Jan Jakobs Janssen (born February 5, 1925 in Emden ; † April 13, 1970 at Großer Feldberg ) was a German pilot.

Life

Janssen founded the airline OLT (Ostfriesisches Lufttaxi, today OFD ) together with Martin Dekker in 1958 , based in Emden . On June 6, 1959, the airfield was put into operation. From 1962 Janssen ran the business alone. Janssen had a fatal accident on a business flight on April 13, 1970 near Frankfurt. The new access road to Emden Airport was named "Jan-J.-Janssen-Straße" in his honor.
