The Ostfriesischer Flugdienst ( OFD for short ) is a German regional airline based in Emden and based at Emden Airport . It is a subsidiary of Reederei AG Ems and was spun off from the former OLT Express in 2011 .

history

The origin of the OFD lies with the Ostfriesische Lufttaxi - Dekker and Janssen OHG founded by Jan Jakobs Janssen and Martin Dekker in 1958. When this company separated its seaside and regional air traffic in 1974, the coastal aviation was continued by the newly founded OLT Ostfriesische Lufttransport GmbH , albeit Over time, this company also returned to Germany-wide regional air traffic and was finally taken over in 2011 by the now insolvent Polish company Amber Gold . Another split took place and in the course of this, the island flight division remained with AG Ems as the previous OLT owner; The coastal flight will be continued by her under the current name OFD Ostfriesischer-Flug-Dienst GmbH .

On September 18, 2013, after a 14-day transfer, two Britten-Norman BN-2 Islanders landed at the Bremerhaven-Luneort airfield under the direction of Jim Hazelton . These were bought by the OFD in New Zealand and now strengthen the Helgoland fleet.

Destinations

OFD operates scheduled flights from Emden Airport to Borkum Airport and from Cuxhaven / Nordholz Airport and Heide-Büsum Airport to Helgoland-Düne Airport . Sightseeing and charter flights as well as island hopping, day flights, mapping and environmental flights are also offered.
