The Cargologic Germany GmbH is a German cargo airline with headquarters in Schkeuditz .
history
CargoLogic Germany emerged from Value Cargo Logistics, which was founded in 2013 and is based in Schkeuditz. At the end of August 2018, the company changed its name to CargoLogic Germany , before it appointed Ulrich Ogiermann as sole managing director on December 19 of the same year. The name was chosen based on the British sister company CargoLogicAir , which, like CargoLogic Germany, belongs to the Volga Dnepr Group . In September 2018, Ogiermann emphasized that the German company - unlike its British sister company, which was not affected by Brexit - wanted to focus in future on the transport of goods in online mail order with Boeing 737-400 machines ; despite belonging to the Volga Dnepr Group, it operates as an independent company.
Critical voices were raised in the industry against the application for an Air Operator Certificate from CargoLogic Germany to be issued by the Federal Aviation Office : Michael Engel, as Chief Executive Officer of the Federation of German Airlines, warned that, given the disparities on the Russian side, when granting traffic rights to foreign companies with the issuance of an air traffic operator's certificate "to the stirrup holder of Russian expansion plans in European air traffic". The criticism was shared by several airlines - including Lufthansa , which, with its subsidiaries Lufthansa Cargo and AeroLogic, is in direct competition with CargoLogic Germany. Engel also noted that CargoLogic Germany could in future send a representative to the German traffic rights negotiations and thus act on behalf of the Russian parent company and other Russian airlines. In the context of the criticism, Ogiermann once again emphasized that CargoLogic Germany is an economically and financially independent company. It was only possible to found CargoLogic Germany, which, according to EU law, has to be majority owned by European citizens, since the Volga Dnepr owner and oligarch Alexey Isaikin has the Cypriot passport and thus also the Union citizenship as part of an investment program in Cyprus had received.
In the following period there were repeated postponements with regard to the announced issuing of the air traffic operator's certificate by the Federal Aviation Office , which not least checked the ownership structure; A date announced by Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer for the end of August could not be kept either. The two Boeing 737-400Fs, which had already been transferred to Germany and converted into cargo machines in the United States, have meanwhile carried out test flights with crew members of CargoLogic Germany.
On September 13, 2019, the Federal Aviation Office, CargoLogic Germany, issued the air transport operator's certificate following an announcement by the Saxon State Chancellery. As a result, Ogiermann - who from the outset saw his commitment limited to the granting of the operating license - announced that he would be leaving the company for family reasons. The position of managing director was taken over by Johannes Jähn, who had left the management of Leipzig Airport a little earlier .
The company operated the first flight after receiving the Air Operator Certificate on October 2, 2019 and began operations on the 7th of the same month. On this occasion, Jähn announced that CargoLogic Germany, which currently has 40 employees, is expecting the number of aircraft in use to double within one year.
