Heli Service International GmbH is a German helicopter service provider with headquarters in Emden and bases at Emden and Husum airports . Services include the transportation of passengers and cargo to and from the offshore wind farms , research and installation vessels, and helicopter hoist operations.
history
The company was founded in 1987 as Helikopter-Service-Mittel GmbH in Egelsbach . The company initially offered rescue flights, passenger and cargo transport, helicopter pilot training and maintenance. The rescue flight branch was sold to ADAC Air Rescue in 1998 . Since 2006 the company has been concentrating on offshore supply flights. In 2007 the headquarters were relocated to Bremerhaven and the base in Egelsbach was abandoned. At the same time, the name was changed to Heli Service International GmbH. In 2011 the new base in Emden went into operation.
In 2016 the Volartus Group acquired all of the shares.

- Passenger transport
- The company transports offshore service personnel and freight on wind turbines and platforms on a daily basis.
- Hoisting
- All helicopters are equipped with Goodrich winches. These have safety hooks. The AW 139 was the first of its kind in Germany to be fitted with a fail-safe double winch. The company is the first operator of AW 169 specially developed for offshore hoists.
- training
- The company offers offshore companies the opportunity to train their personnel for future hoist operations.
- maintenance
- The company carries out MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) on third-party helicopters in Emden and offers safety and quality services for helicopters of various brands. The maintenance organization is an authorized training facility for aircraft mechanics.
- Expeditions / research
- Ship helicopters are offered for expeditions on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany. The BO 105 and the BK 117 are specially equipped for research flights on board the icebreaker Polarstern . Heli Service International is the only company in Germany that regularly takes part in expeditions on the polar sea.
