Azur Air GmbH ceased operations in 2018. The information in italics refer to the last status before the end of operation. |
Azur Air was a German charter airline based in Düsseldorf and based at Düsseldorf Airport . It was a subsidiary of the Dutch holding company NW International BV , based in Amsterdam , which was founded at the same time with the German package tour operator Anex Tour GmbH to support the expansion plans.
history
Azur Air was founded in 2016 and applied to the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt for an air traffic operator's certificate , which it received on June 30, 2017, around three months later than planned. After expanding to initially 3 Boeing 767-300s in September 2017 and adding a Boeing 737-900ER to the fleet in April 2018, the fleet was gradually reduced in summer 2018. It was planned to only carry out the 2018/2019 winter flight schedule with the Boeing 737, for this reason around half of the flight crew was terminated in July 2018. On September 6th and 7th, however, the two remaining aircraft were parked in Turkey and Onur Air carried out the planned flights . Despite the statement by the management that this was only a temporary measure, it was announced on September 26, 2018 that the company would be dissolved for economic reasons.
Destinations
Azur Air flew from Düsseldorf to typical holiday destinations around the Mediterranean and until mid-2018 to the Dominican Republic and Cuba.
fleet
Azur Air Germany has operated a total of four different aircraft in its history:
Aircraft type | number | ordered | Aircraft registration | Remarks | Seats ( Business / Economy ) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Boeing 767-300ER | 3 | D-AZUA | September 2017 - September 2018 | 334 (- / 334) | |
D-TRAINEE | May 2017 - April 2018 | ||||
D-AZUC | July 2017 - July 2018 | ||||
Boeing 737-900ER | 1 | D-AZUG | April - September 2018 | 215 (- / 215) |
The Boeing 737-900ER with the aircraft registration D-AZUG was the first and only machine of this 737 sub-type that was ever registered in Germany.
