The Conti-Flug limited liability company , also Conti-Flug International Airlines , was a German airline based in Cologne .

history

Conti-Flug was founded in 1964. Flight operations began with air taxi and charter flights; A Hawker Siddeley HS.125 leased from Condor was used . In addition, Learjet 35 and Beechcraft King Air aircraft were used .

After German reunification in 1990, Conti-Flug received a license for scheduled flights and opened an office at Berlin-Tempelhof Airport . As a result, from October 26, 1992, scheduled flights were carried out twice a day with a BAe 146 between Tempelhof and London City Airport . Conti-Flug was satisfied with the occupancy rate - it was twice as high as expected - and announced that it would offer further flights from London.

The connection between London and Hamburg could not be realized, however, because Airbus had not agreed to a later departure time of the company shuttle between Hamburg and Toulouse, which was also operated by Conti-Flug . Instead, from March 1994, London and Riga were connected , although a stopover was made in Berlin. Due to the growth, plans were made to expand the fleet with further BAe 146 and Avro RJs.

However, due to financial problems, Conti-Flug ceased operations on August 22, 1994. The search for investors failed and on October 10, 1994, the company opened for insolvency, which was only concluded in 2001.

Destinations

London, Mallorca, Gerona, Riga and Venice were served from Berlin.
