VHM school and charter flight was a German airline based in Mülheim an der Ruhr . The airline was based at the Essen / Mülheim airfield. Together with the subsidiary, which had its headquarters at Damme airfield , VHM operated a business and self-pilot charter service and leased helicopters. Furthermore, pilots were trained and sightseeing flights were undertaken.

The company filed for bankruptcy on January 24, 2011. Flight operations ceased on June 30, 2011.

history

The company VHM was founded in 1976 by Wolfgang Vautz and two other business partners. Soon after, it started flight operations, at that time with three aircraft and three employees. The two other shareholders were paid out. Since then, VHM has been managed by Wolfgang Vautz alone and, at its peak in 2009, employed around ten permanent employees and around 70 freelance workers. The core business was the business charter segment. VHM operated a King Air B200 and three Citation Jets in various sizes. As part of the bankruptcy filed in January 2011, no investor could be found for the over-indebted company. The company was wound up, flight operations ceased on June 30, 2011 and the aircraft owned by the company were sold.

Incidents

In the early evening hours of November 24, 2006, VHM's Piper Seneca (D-GIGI) chartered to a self-pilot fell onto the A52 near Essen and hit a car. The machine crashed and 7 people were injured, 2 of them seriously. The aircraft was not sufficiently refueled by the pilot and crashed due to lack of fuel.
