Air Bremen was a German airline based in Bremen .

history

The airline was founded on November 6, 1988 by the aviation merchant Augustinus JA Boots - the Hanseatische Industrie-Beteiligungen GmbH (HIBEG) of the state of Bremen with 42% of the shares, as well as two shipping lines and an insurance company, was also involved.

On March 28, 1989 one took flight operations with the help of two leased Saab 340s ; but the goal of transporting the 59,000 passengers targeted for this year was missed, instead it was only possible to transport 34,000 passengers and therefore not be in the black. Nevertheless, Air Bremen expanded in March 1990 by leasing another Saab 340.

Due to a smoldering financial crisis in the summer of 1990, there was a threat of undercapitalization. The state of Bremen then provided financial aid of several million DM. As a result, talks about a cooperation with Lufthansa and KLM had to be broken off without success. No other sufficiently financially strong partners were found. Therefore, the owners made the decision to liquidate the company. Flight operations ceased on August 22, 1990.

Destinations

From its base in Bremen, the airline served the destinations Brussels , Paris , Vienna , London and Copenhagen .
