DC Aviation is a German airline based in Stuttgart and based at Stuttgart Airport . It is a subsidiary of Aton GmbH .
history
The airline was founded in 1998 under the name "DaimlerChrysler Aviation" as a 100 percent subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler AG and expanded under the leadership of the first President, Frank Rösler. The aim was to establish a cost-effective, regular and uncomplicated flight connection between the corporate headquarters in Stuttgart and Detroit and to ensure the corporate management's mobility with business jets. The license to carry out commercial flight operations in business aviation according to JAR-OPS 1 and the authorization for aircraft maintenance according to EASA Part-145 were issued in 1999 by the Federal Aviation Office .
In January 2007, DaimlerChrysler Aviation was bought by Aton GmbH , an investment company owned by the entrepreneur Lutz Helmig . In March 2007, the airline was renamed "DCA GmbH". DC Aviation was created in May 2007 from the merger of DCA GmbH with Saarbrücken-based private airline Cirrus Aviation, a company of the Cirrus Group . In July 2008 Aton became the sole shareholder of the entire Cirrus Group. In December 2008, 100% of Cirrus Airlines, Cirrus Technik, Cirrus Flight Training and nana tours were sold to Aviation Investment, owned by Cirrus founder Gerd Brandecker. DC Aviation and Augsburg Airways remained in the possession of Aton.
In 2011, DC Aviation founded a joint venture in Dubai with the Al-Futtaim Group . In February 2015, “DC Aviation Al-Futtaim LLC” was granted the AOC by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). DCAF is the first aircraft to operate a Bombardier Global Express ( aircraft registration A6-CBO ), which was previously operated as D-ACBO by DC Aviation.
From December 2011 to June 2012, DC Aviation operated cruise flights on behalf of Hapag-Lloyd . An Airbus ACJ319 was used for this, but in contrast to the Boeing Business Jet used by Hapag-Lloyd, it remained in the corporate colors of DC Aviation.
In 2013 DC Aviation announced the takeover of the Swiss private airline Jet-Link , based in Zurich. In addition to expanding the market position, the focus of this measure is the systematic expansion of the range of services. In addition to providing flights, DC Aviation also offers repair services at Stuttgart Airport.
On July 4, 2017, DC Aviation announced the sale of its founding machine, an Airbus A319 CJ.
