Arps von Arpshofen is a German-Baltic noble family and belongs to the Livonian knighthood . The former merchant family Arps was based in Hamburg . Hieronymus Arps moved to the Estonian city of Reval , today's Tallinn , and was entered in the civil register on June 11, 1667 . His son Gerhard (Gert) Arps moved the trading house to Narva , where he became councilor and mayor . The highest social event for the Arps family was the visit of the Russian Tsar Peter the Great (1672–1725) to the Arps house. The mayor's grandson Karl Georg was a wholesaler in Narva, he bought the goods Lagena, Hermannsberg, Wasahof and Weiwara in Estonia and in 1797 Sagnitz Castle. He acquired in the July 28, 1791 Vienna the baron ( baron ) as "Arp Freiherr von Arpshofen".

Registration and notation
