The Sea-Airport Cuxhaven / Nordholz ( IATA code : FCN , ICAO code : ETMN ) is a regional commercial airport near Nordholz in the municipality of Wurster North Sea Coast in the district of Cuxhaven and is the civil part of the Nordholz air base opposite , the new one is directly adjacent developed around 40 hectare industrial area Sea-Airpark Cuxhaven / Nordholz . Through a joint use agreement between the German armed forces and the airport operating company Cuxhaven / Nordholz, Sea-Airport Cuxhaven / Nordholz opens up the airport infrastructure of the neighboring Naval Aviation Squadron 3 "Graf Zeppelin" to a wide range of civilian customers.
history
The history of the airfield goes back to 1912. Construction of the airport facilities began a year later and was completed in 1914. In 1958 the Nordholz Air Base was opened.
As in Bremerhaven an offshore terminal (OTB) is to be built, the Bremerhaven city administration decided in September 2011 to Bremerhaven Airport to close. After it was closed on March 1, 2016, the company moved to Nordholz. The Aero-Club Bremerhaven, founded in 1957, has also moved to Nordholz in March 2016, to the airport terminal building , next to the entrance to the OFD airline . The club's planes are in a round hangar at the sea airport / ETMN - Ramp Zulu (since mid-April 2017) together with the Honda Jet from Privateways Luftfahrtgesellschaft mbH and are therefore easy and quick to get up via the taxiways H - S - C or B. the runway of the airport. The club also operates a flight school and offers charter flights over the " Wadden Sea " world natural heritage site and along the North and Baltic Sea coasts from Borkum to Rügen .
On September 29, 2017, Germania operated the Cuxhaven / Nordholz - Palma de Mallorca route . After only one flight, the connection was discontinued due to lack of official approval and relocated to Bremen .

The airline OFD Ostfriesischer Flugdienst operates daily scheduled flights to the Helgoland-Düne airfield . The airline Yourways suspended all scheduled flights in July 2018. Private jet operators also use the airport.
