Jan Kaus (born January 22, 1971 in Aegviidu , Estonian SSR ) is an Estonian writer .

life and work

Jan Kaus studied education and philosophy in Tallinn . In 1995 he passed his teacher examination.

Kaus lives today as a poetry and prose writer and publicist. He is also active as a literary critic, essayist, visual artist, guitarist and translator from English and Finnish .

From 1998 to 2001, Kaus was an editor at the Estonian cultural newspaper Sirp . From 2004 to 2007 he was chairman of the Estonian Writers' Union ( Estonian Eesti kirjanike liit ). Since 2007 he has been working in the Sirp editorial team again .

Jan Kaus is a precise and astute, sometimes sarcastic, observer of Estonia's New Economy and Internet Age. His poetry and prose address the social problems of Estonia in the 21st century.
