Jan Krohn (born May 10, 1962 in Hamburg ) is a German writer and songwriter living in Switzerland.

Life

Krohn was born in Hamburg, spent his youth in Glarus and stayed longer in Lisbon and London as well as at the English seminar at the University of Zurich. He was a member of Pipilotti Rist's creative kitchen for Expo 2002 and now lives in Zurich, where he works as a songwriter and writer. His publications include the novel “30”, the short story book “Scherbentanz”, the novella “XICA”, the radio play “Modern Love”, short stories and columns as well as lyrics in English and Swiss dialect for various bands.

The novella “XICA”, which follows on from his short story volume “Scherbentanz”, is considered a cult book that gave the generation of late baby boomers in Switzerland a voice. In the 1990s, Krohn was the songwriter of the pop band Starfish , which had success with melancholy folk-pop in Switzerland and Northern Europe in the 1990s. His latest work are the lyrics for the international jazz project "Travelogue".

Jan Krohn is the brother of the successful author Tim Krohn and like him a member of the Association of Authors of Switzerland (AdS).
