Jan Pietraszko (born August 7, 1911 in Buczkowice , Austria-Hungary , † March 2, 1988 in Krakow , Poland ) was a Polish Roman Catholic clergyman and auxiliary bishop in Krakow .

Life

January Pietraszko received on 5 April 1936 by the Archbishop of Krakow, Adam Stefan Sapieha , the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On November 23, 1962, Pope John XXIII appointed him . as titular bishop of Turrisblanda and auxiliary bishop in Krakow. The Archbishop of Cracow, Stefan Cardinal Wyszyński , donated him episcopal ordination on April 15 of the following year . Co- consecrators were the Krakow auxiliary bishops Karol Wojtyła , who later became Pope John Paul II, and Julian Groblicki .

He attended the third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

The Archdiocese of Krakow initiated a beatification process for Pietraszko after his death . On December 21, 2018, Pope Francis awarded him the heroic degree of virtue .
