Johannes "Jan" Marinus Plantaz (born December 9, 1930 in Geldrop , North Brabant ; † February 10, 1974 in Eindhoven ) was a Dutch cyclist.

Plantaz achieved his first national success in 1951 as a 20-year-old amateur road driver . Third place in the amateur road world championships and winning the road race Amsterdam-Arnhem-Tiel-Amsterdam stood out. In 1952 he was in the Dutch squad for the Olympic cycling competitions in Helsinki . With eight minutes behind the Olympic champion, Plantaz was only 22. After he had won a stage at the Flèche du Sud in Luxembourg in 1953 and came second in the overall standings, he moved to the professional rider camp in 1954. At the same time he moved his activities to the track , where he became the Dutch runner-up in the single pursuit that same year . He took part in 28 six-day races and once won the six-day race in Antwerp in 1960 . Until the end of his career, Plantaz took part in both road and track races and won second and third places several times. After he had previously only concluded one-year contracts with Dutch racing teams, he was tied to the Dutch team Eroba-Vredestein between 1957 and 1961. In 1961 he drove for the German team Ruberg-Liga at short notice, among others with the German drivers Friedhelm Fischerkeller and Horst Tüller . In 1961 he achieved his last notable success with third place at the Dutch Pursuit Championship. After engagements with the Swiss racing teams Schwab and Tigra, he did not receive a new professional contract.
