Jan Südmersen

Jan Südmersen (born May 2, 1969 ) is a German non-fiction author and fire officer with the Osnabrück professional fire department . His specialist books deal mainly with fire-fighting topics such as fire fighting , technical assistance or the handling of animals in fire-fighting operations.

Life

Jan Südmersen was born near Osnabrück . He was brought to the fire department by his grandfather, who took him to the local fire station. First in the youth fire brigade , he later joined the volunteer fire brigade in his home town. After graduating from high school, he completed the security technology course at the University of Wuppertal . The course also included completing various internships with professional fire departments, e. B. in Hamburg , Minden , Miami and New York City .

After completing his degree with the title of qualified engineer , he began his professional fire service career as a fire inspector candidate with the Osnabrück fire service . Since 1999 he has been in charge of the training, deployment concept, rescue service and press officer departments. He is also jointly responsible for the public relations work of the Osnabrück professional fire brigade.

As a part-time job, Südmersen is heavily involved in training volunteers and professional fire departments in Germany. Among other things, he is co-founder and chairman of @fire , an international disaster control association, co-initiator of the Association for the Promotion of German Accident Rescue, and speaker and trainer at atemschutzunfaelle.eu and feuerwehrhandwerk.de.
