Jan Sprowski also Jan ze Sprowa Herb Odrowąż (* 14th century or 15th century; † April 14, 1464 ) was a Polish nobleman and the Archbishop of Gniezno and Primate of Poland (1453-64).

biography

Jan Sprowski was canon of Cracow , Gniezno and Posen and a member of the Secretary Królewski (Royal Secretariat) from 1450 to 1453. In 1453 the Pope appointed him Archbishop of Gniezno and thus Primate of Poland, offices of Jan Sprowski until his death in 1464 clothed. He was the mentor and supporter of King Kazimierz IV Jagiellończyk .

As Primate of Poland, he called three synods (1456, 1457 and 1459). In 1460 he donated the Resurrection Chapel (today the Chapel of the Body of Christ ) in the Arch-Cathedral of Gniezno . He died on April 14, 1464 and was buried in the Arch-Cathedral of Gniezno.
