Jan Taminiau

Jan Taminiau (born September 14, 1975 in Goirle ) is a Dutch fashion designer based in Amsterdam .

Taminiau comes from a Tilburg family of antique dealers, decorators and designers. Following the family tradition, he first studied at the European School of Antiques in Antwerp , later at the St. Joost Art Academy in Breda , before finally turning to fashion and studying at the University of Art in Arnhem , which he graduated in 2001. After completing a master's course at the Arnhem Fashion Institute from 2003 and doing various internships with Olivier Theyskens , Oscar Süleyman, Hurel and Hubert Barrere in Paris , work began on his first own collection, 'Unfolding', which he presented at the Paris Fashion Week.

In 2004 the fashion designer founded his own fashion label JANTAMINIAU. Since 2007, Taminiau has presented its haute couture collections twice a year as part of the Paris Couture Fashion Week.

In addition to the Dutch royal family, his customers today include the presenter Sylvie Meis , Queen Mathilde of the Belgians , Princess Claire of Luxembourg, Beyoncé and Lady Gaga . His best-known works certainly include the two models worn by Queen Máxima as part of the enthronement ceremonies and the cork dress that Lady Gaga wears in the video for 'You and I'.

The designer also presented his work in several exhibitions, including the World Garden Expo Floriade 2012 in Venlo and the "Dutch Paradox" exhibition in Galeries Lafayette .

Taminiau has also worked as a costume designer, for example for The Hunger Games - The Hunger Games and the play 'Gone with the Wind'.
