Jan Villwock

Jan Villwock (born January 26, 1966 in Ulm ) is a former German basketball player on the position of the winger . In 1986 he took part in the World Cup with the German national team.

career

Villwock began his basketball career at the age of ten with SSV Ulm in 1846 . After a stint with the second division Ludwigsburg, the return to Ulm and after passing high school, he moved to the Bundesliga club MTV 1846 Gießen in 1985 . He completed his military service in Giessen and played at MTV alongside Michael Koch and Henning Harnisch . Villwock scored more than 4,000 points in 288 Bundesliga games for Giessen and thus ranks first in the club's “eternal basket hunter list”. In 1995 he stepped down for professional reasons and joined the second division TV Lich , later he played at VfR 19 Limburg and VfB 1900 Gießen. In 2001 he ended his playing career. Afterwards he also worked as a trainer at VfB 1900.

National team

Villwock played 16 international matches for Germany (all in 1986). He was part of the German squad for the 1986 World Cup , and ended his national team career the following year. At the Cadet European Championship in 1983 , he won bronze with the German team and scored an average of 12.8 points per game in this tournament. A year later, at the Junior European Championship, he was the most successful thrower in the German team with an average of 18.1 points.
