Jana Bieger

Jana Bieger (born November 12, 1989 in Kiel ) is a German-American gymnast . She started gymnastics at the age of 2 (still in Germany). When she was eight years old, Bieger and her mother emigrated to Florida , where they have lived ever since. Bieger is a member of the US national team.

Bieger is the daughter of the 1976 German Olympian Andrea Bieger . She trains in her mother's gym (Bieger International Gymnastics) in Florida.

As a junior, she was third in 2003 on the jump at the US Championships and 2004 third in the standings and winner on vault. With the junior national team she competed in 2004 at the Pacific Alliance Championships , where she won gold with the team and on the vault, and behind Anastasia Liukin silver in the all-around and on the balance beam .

In the seniors she started for the first time in 2005. At the US championships she won third places in all-around, on the jump and on the ground . At the 2005 World Championships , she competed for the USA.

At the Pan Am Championships 2005 she won first place in the team standings with the US team as well as silver on the vault and bronze on the ground. In 2006 she won the Cottbus Cup on vault, achieved silver on the balance beam and bronze on the uneven bars . She got three victories at the Pacific Alliance Championships 2006, where she won with the team, on the vault and on the ground.

At the 2006 World Championships in Aarhus ( Denmark ) she was runner-up in the all-around and on the ground.

Due to injuries, Jana Bieger was only nominated as reserve gymnast at the 2008 Olympic Games, but did not appear.

Bieger lives in Coconut Creek , Florida .
