Jana Smítková
Jana Smítková (born December 26, 1942 in Prague ) is a Czech opera singer ( soprano ).
Life
Jana Smítková studied at the Prague Conservatory . She took on engagements in Liberec (1967), Brno (1968–1970) and Budweis (1970–1973). She then moved to the GDR and was engaged at the Komische Oper and the Berlin State Opera , as well as in Leipzig and Dresden .
Her most important roles included Káťa Kabanová , Madama Butterfly , Micaela (in Carmen ) and Agathe ( Der Freischütz ).
In Aribert Reimann's Lear she interpreted the role of Cordelia (director: Harry Kupfer ).
