Janette Oke
Janette Oke (born February 18, 1935 as Janette Steeves) is a Canadian writer of Christian literature .
Life
Janette Oke was on a farm in Champion , in the Canadian province of Alberta born.
She studied at Mountain View Bible College in Didsbury, Alberta , where she also met her future husband Edward Oke. The two married in 1957 and have since served as pastors at various churches in Indiana , Calgary and Edmonton .
Janette Oke published her first book Love Comes Softly in 1979 at Bethany House . In 1984 it was published in Germany under the title Love grows like a tree by Gerth Medien . The book quickly became a bestseller, which has since been followed by over 75 other works.
The numerous awards that Janette Oke has received include The Gold Medallion Award for Fiction , CBA Life Impact Award , The Christy Award of Excellence, and President's Award from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association .
Janette Oke is a mother of four and now lives with her husband in Alberta near her parents' farm, which has since been converted into a local museum.
Her daughter Laurel Oke Logan wrote a biography of her mother, which was published in German under the title Janette Oke: A Heart for the Prairie in 2002 by Brunnen Verlag .

The settlers
The series was published from 1984 to 1990 by Gerth Medien , translated by Beate Peter. Read by Günter Schmitz , the first four volumes were published as an audio book in 1990 . Fox Faith adapted the books as a film series with actors such as Katherine Heigl , Corbin Bernsen and Erin Cottrell .
