Hanno Herzler

Hanno Herzler (* 1961 in Langenau near Ulm as Johannes Herzler ) is a German author , publicist and radio play director . He lives in Greifenstein-Beilstein , is married to Petra Herzler-Grossmann and has three grown-up children.

Life

Hanno Herzler grew up in Biberach an der Riss from the age of 7 . He graduated from the Wieland grammar school there and trained as a radio editor in Wetzlar. This was followed by studying Protestant theology in Marburg and Tübingen with a master's degree in Marburg. During his studies he received further training as a speaker and speaking trainer. Since 1991 he has been working as a freelance journalist , book author , radio play director and as a rhetoric and personality trainer. In 1994 he moved to Greifenstein-Beilstein in Hesse .

Herzler has written over 90 Christian radio plays of his own and has implemented more than 40 audio books for various publishers . He also speaks and directs dubbing recordings for radio and television. He also wrote the screenplay for the 2008 film Defigt the Mill together with Rainer Hackstock .

In the musical Merci! The Count and the Huguenots , which he developed together with Siegfried Fietz and for whose text and dramaturgy he was responsible, he also played the role of the bizarre and unpopular Baron von Meder. The musical is based on a true story from 1685, which Herzler came across in conversation with the Braunfels historian Arno Fitzler: Count Wilhelm Moritz von Solms-Greifenstein settled French religious refugees on his territory. He wanted to leave the entire village of Daubhausen (today a district of Ehringshausen) to these Huguenots so that they could "keep their language and culture pure" - his goal was separation, not integration as is the case today. The German residents of Daubhausen were offered adequate farmsteads in the neighboring villages, which were still vacant after the severe human losses during the Thirty Years' War. But Daubhausen's German innkeeper - historical name Marie Leimbs or Leimitz - refused to leave her home village. Then her daughter fell in love with the French schoolmaster - historically Jean Mallizy - and a compromise had to be found with the count.

"Merci" was performed eight times in 2011 at the original location, the Greifenstein castle ruins, and in 2012 on the occasion of the local Hessentag three times in the Wetzlar rose garden and once in the Huguenot foundation of Rauschenberg-Schwabendorf. A total of around 8,000 visitors saw the musical.

Radio play series

Wild west adventure with Billy & Willy

The Wildwest-Abenteuer (Wild West-Abenteuer) appeared without a fixed series title under the name “A radio adventure play by Hanno Herzler” (which is why the series is called “Billy & Willy” after the protagonists) between 1993 and 2005 in 24 episodes under the Schulte label & Gerth initially as a radio play cassette . In 2004, all episodes that had appeared up to that point were published in full on CD . The following parts appeared on both cassette and CD. The freely linked, generally self-contained stories are largely based on stand-alone books by various Christian authors. Hanno Herzler directed the radio play series and was the spokesman for Marvin Donaldson , the father of the siblings Billy and Willy.

Space adventure

The space adventure (also published as Dr. Brockers space adventure in secondary use ) appeared from 1996 to 2009 in 28 episodes with a length of 40 to 70 minutes. The Christian science fiction radio play series for children was initially released by Gerth Medien on cassette and later also on CD in full. From March 2009 to September of the same year, the radio play series was broadcast weekly for the first time on ERF radio in the JoeMax radio program.

The first episodes are based on the Jim Dunlap children's book series from 1967-1968, which the American author Bernard Palmer wrote. The stories of the later radio plays wrote Hanno Herzler himself. Herzler spoke the narrator and also appeared in isolated roles as a speaker.

The ongoing radio play series tells the story of space researcher Dr. Brocker , his granddaughter Tonya , their friends Uli , Jim , Rex and Lisa and Dr. Brocker's archenemy and competitor Fletcher . The friends, who live in the small fictional coastal town of Swanton on the east coast of the US state of Maine , experience various adventures in the series and learn a lot about space, science and technology. Meanwhile, the children grow up, relationships change, and former friends become enemies.

Adventure between heaven and earth

Based on the concept of Günter Schmitz , Hanno Herzler expanded the series Adventures Between Heaven and Earth with episodes 3 to 9 for the New Testament , which were published by Gerth Medien in 1998 and 1999.

From 2003 onwards, Hanno Herzler expanded the series of the Old Testament to include episodes 13 to 20.

Andy Latte

Between 1998 and 2010, 19 episodes of the radio play series Andy Latte appeared , a character invented by Hanno Herzler and Lars Kissner. Hanno Herzler wrote the stories for the 19 episodes, directed the radio play series and was the spokesman for the father of the main characters in the series.

Rothstein kids

The author and creator of this series is Anke Hillebrenner; Hanno Herzler was particularly involved in the design of the first three stories (which were available as a book) for the radio play, directed the implementation in the studio and acts as the narrator. From 2016 to 2019, the Christliche Verlagsgesellschaft Dillenburg already published 9 episodes with Justus Hillebrenner, Ellis Heimann and Lucas Esche in the leading roles. Episode 10 - "The Secret of the Lost Pictures" is expected to be released in autumn 2020.

Participation in other radio play series

  • Ole the pirate (narrator)
  • The three from the branch (speaker)
  • The 5 siblings (spokesman for the role "Baron Zerbach")

For the radio play series Gemmas Insel by Dorothea Unbehend , Hanno Herzler was the director of the first three episodes before Eckart zur Nieden took over the direction of the remaining episodes. The first three episodes were published by ERF-Verlag in 1996. In 2002 a second edition of the series appeared under a new cover. In addition, Hanno Herzler acted as a narrator in the three Na-und radio plays and in Dorothea Unbehend's teen club crime novels.
