Jango Edwards
Jango Edwards (* 15. April 1950 in Detroit as Stanley Ted Edwards ) is an American clown and comedian .
Life
Jango Edwards became known for his very physical, sometimes rough stage performances. He has also been known to a wider audience in Germany since the 1980s. This is based on live performances, solo and with his group Friends Roadshow, a long-playing record with mainly pieces of music from his performances ( Live at the Melkweg , Amsterdam 1978) and a separate television show that ran in a few third programs.
Jango Edwards also acted in some movies. In the 1990s he appeared regularly in short skits in the ORF- produced comedy series Tohuwabohu , which was also shown on German television. In December 2008 he had an appearance at the Arosa Humor Festival .
On December 3, 2012, the Vienna City Council awarded Jango Edwards the Golden Decoration of Honor of the City of Vienna on the initiative of the Austrian Greens.
On September 15, 2013, on his return from Moscow to his adopted home Spain, Edwards was arrested at the airport in Barcelona for lack of visa papers and taken into custody. After being banned from entering the EU for six months, Edwards returned to the stages of Europe from the USA in 2014 and has since returned to Barcelona. In a 2017 portrait on TV station Arte, Edwards stated that he had lived in Europe for three decades without papers.
