Janis Stielow

Janis Jörg Stielow (born March 8, 1995 in Stadthagen ) is a German basketball player . He was most recently part of the regional league team VfL Stade. Previously he was under contract with the second division club Hamburg Towers and SC Rist Wedel and played in the junior national team. Stielow is used in playing positions two (shooting guard) and three (small forward), his body height is 1.93 meters.

career

In his youth, Stielow first played for MTV Lüneburg and then moved to BG Harburg Hittfeld, with whom he became German champions in the U14 age group in 2009.

In 2009/10 he played in the youth team as well as in the upper division men's team of VfL Pinneberg and for the Pirates Hamburg in the U16 Bundesliga JBBL . In the following years, Stielow was active for the Pirates until the end of the 2013/14 season: first in the JBBL , from 2011 in the NBBL . In the 2010/11 season he then played parallel to this in Lüneburg in the men's area and appeared for MTV Bad Bevensen Lüneburg in the 2nd regional league, where he scored an average of 16.9 in ten games.

For the 2011/12 season he joined the SC Rist Wedel and was used there in the 2nd Bundesliga Pro B and in the second men's team (2nd regional league). With the U18 youth team Wedels he won silver in the German youth cup in May 2012.

He then moved to BG Halstenbek / Pinneberg and strengthened the playing community in the 1st regional league (2012/13 season). This was followed by the return to SC Rist Wedel , with whom he reached the semi-finals of the Pro B in 2013/14, received noticeably more game shares and matured into a top performer.

Stielow signed a contract with the for the season 2014/15 Hamburg Towers and ran for the newly formed team in their first season in the 2. Bundesliga Pro A on. At the same time he received a cooperation also eligible to play for the under SC Rist Wedel , for which he thus continues in the 2. Bundesliga Pro B aground. Due to back problems, he had to take a break for months during the season.

In July 2015, his contract with the Towers was extended, he was again equipped with an additional license for the SC Rist for the 2015/16 season. Again he had to take part of the season out due to back problems, in August 2016 at the age of only 21 he announced the end of his professional career. Stielow announced that his back could not withstand the stresses and strains of professional basketball.

In October 2017 he returned to the field of regional league club VfL Stade. He played for Lower Saxony until the end of the 2018/19 season and then went to Southeast Asia for professional reasons.

National team

In 2010 Stielow was appointed to the German U15 national team and took part in the "North Sea Development Basketball Cup" in Sweden.

In 2011 he received a squad place for the U16 European Championship in the Czech Republic and made nine appearances in the German national jersey during the tournament.

In 2014 he played international matches with the U20 national team.
