Jann-Peter Janssen

Jann-Peter Janssen (born February 12, 1945 in Norden ) is a former German politician ( SPD ). From 1998 to 2005 he was Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Tourism of the German Bundestag.

Life and work

After attending primary school , Janssen did an apprenticeship as a shipbuilder and then did his military service . He was then employed as a line worker at Volkswagen AG , where he was finally Chairman of the Works Council at the Emden plant from 1982 to 1996 .

After the death of his first wife, Jann-Peter Janssen has been married for a second time since 2006 and has two children from his first marriage. He now lives in Ihlow Parish .

Political party

Janssen joined the SPD in 1969 and was initially particularly involved with the Jusos ; most recently he was the second chairman of the SPD local association in the north.

MP

Janssen was a member of the North City Council from 1972 to 1986 and again from 2001 to 2005.

From 1994 until the resignation of his mandate on January 24, 2005 he was a member of the German Bundestag and from 1998 to 2005 deputy chairman of the tourism committee.

At the end of 2004 it became known that, contrary to his original information, Janssen had still received a salary from Volkswagen AG beyond 1994. He then declared on January 14, 2005 that he wanted to renounce his Bundestag mandate and resigned. Lars Klingbeil moved up for Janssen via the state list .

Jann-Peter Janssen has always entered the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Aurich - Emden constituency .
