Janne Lahti (born July 20, 1982 in Riihimäki ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with HPK Hämeenlinna in the Liiga since April 2016 .

Career

Janne Lahti began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of HPK Hämeenlinna , for whose professional team he made his debut in the SM-liiga in the 2001/02 season . In the following years he became a regular in his team, with which he won the Finnish championship title in the 2005/06 season . At European level, he and his team took second place in the IIHF European Champions Cup in 2007 . In the final, HPK was clearly defeated by Russian rivals Ak Bars Kazan with 0: 6.

The 2007/08 season Lahti spent with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League . With the Canadians he could not prevail with 18 scorer points, including nine goals, in 65 games, whereupon he returned to Finland, where he received a contract with Jokerit Helsinki , for which he has been on the ice ever since. In the 2010/11 season he received the Aarne Honkavaara trophy as the top scorer in the main round and was elected to the All-Star Team of the SM-liiga. He was also named January Player of the Month.

In August 2012 Lahti was signed by Ak Bars Kazan from the Continental Hockey League , but moved to Amur Khabarovsk within the league in November . He returned to Jokerit in August 2013.

International

For Finland Lahti took part in the Euro Hockey Tour in 2007 and 2011 respectively . At the 2011 World Cup in Slovakia he made his World Cup debut for the Northern Europeans and immediately became world champion with his team. During the tournament he was used in five games.
