Janry Ubas (born January 2, 1999 ) is a Filipino athlete who specializes in the decathlon and also competes in the long jump .

Athletic career

Janry Ubas gained his first international experience in 2015, when he won the bronze medal in the decathlon at the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore with 6769 points behind the Vietnamese Nguyễn Văn Huê and his compatriot Jesson Ramil Cid . He also started in the pole vault, but did not cross any height there. In the following year he reached 12th place in the long jump at the Asian Indoor Championships in Doha with 7.00 m and in 2017 he won the bronze medal at the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur with 7.75 m behind the Vietnamese Bùi Văn Đông and the Indonesian Suwandi Wijaya . He then finished fourth at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat with 7.40 m. In 2018 he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time, but retired there with 7.36 m in qualification. At the Asian Athletics Championships 2019 in Doha, 7.44 m was not enough for a final. In December he won the bronze medal in the decathlon at the Southeast Asian Games in Capas with 6769 points behind the Filipino Aries Toledo and Bùi Văn Sự from Vietnam. In addition, he reached fifth place in the long jump with 7.62 m.
