The Janz-Präzisionstechnik GmbH , as well known JLT (Janz and laboratory), is a service and manufacturing operations for Precision Engineering , based in Malente . The company emerged from a workshop for precision mechanics founded by Hugo Janz in Kiel in 1935 . It produces high-quality laboratory equipment and is also a manufacturer of revolvers .

history

From the beginning, the focus of Janz-Präzisionstechnik GmbH was in the field of dairy analysis. In cooperation with the Federal Institute for Dairy Research , basic test methods and laboratory equipment were developed.

In the 90s, JANZ-Präzisionstechnik manufactured a wide variety of weapon parts for the Korth company . In order to be able to manufacture weapon parts in Malente, a permit was required, which could only be given to a master gunsmith. Therefore the owner of Janz GmbH at the time, Uwe Janz, decided to give up his master craftsman as a gunsmith in addition to his master craftsman as a precision mechanic . At that time, Janz GmbH was considering acquiring the Korth company. However, this was discarded due to a disproportionately high price. A short time later, the Korth company under Count Bernstorff went bankrupt again, and Janz was left with many Korth weapon parts and unpaid bills. However, the company also retained extensive manufacturing know-how and authorization to manufacture weapons. Janz then decided to produce its own revolver, and a former Korth technician was hired. The first in-house precision turret went into production in 1998. Since 2000, Janz has continued to manufacture a globally unique changing system for different calibers .

Janz revolver change system

The company originally manufactured revolvers for Korth and has built its own production facility on it, which manufactures all essential components, with the exception of handle shells and barrel blanks. An average of about 10 revolvers are manufactured per month. Janz offers revolvers in different calibers and in three different frame sizes. All three frame sizes are available as fixed calibers. Removable barrels with lengths from 2 ½ ″ to 12 ″ are offered for exchangeable calibres. A caliber change from .22 lfB to .454 Casull is possible. Interchangeable calibers like those for the Janz revolvers are not available from other manufacturers and are therefore a special innovation from Janz. Well-known revolver models from Janz are:

  • Type E with fixed calibers for: .22 lr, .357 MAG, .44 MAG, .454 Casull, .460 S + W, .500 S + W
  • Type S interchangeable caliber for: .22 lr, .357 MAG, .44 MAG, .454 Casull
  • Hunting revolver with fixed caliber for: .357 MAG, .44 MAG, .454 Casull

Pistols

A pistol model was presented by the Janz company. No information was known about the availability until Easter 2018.
