Jarkko Kauppinen

Jarkko Kauppinen (born April 6, 1982 in Vieremä ) is a Finnish biathlete .

Jarkko Kauppinen is a forester and lives in Joensuu . He has been involved in biathlon since 1996 and has been part of the Finnish national team since 2005. Kauppinen starts for Iisalmen Visa and is trained by Jonne Kähkönen. He made his first international appearances as a junior. At the Junior World Championships in 2002 in Ridnaun his best result was a sixth place in the individual, at the Junior European Championships in Kontiolahti in the same year a ninth place in the individual and a fifth place in the relay. At the beginning of the 2002/03 season , the Finn made his debut in the Biathlon World Cup in Östersund . In the sprint he reached the 99th place, with the relay the eleventh. The highlight of the season was the renewed participation in the Junior European Championship in Kościelisko with 30th place in the individual and ninth place with the relay as the best results.

Since the second half of the 2004/05 season Kauppinen appeared more often in the World Cup. In 2006 he achieved a top ten result for the first time in Oberhof with the relay , finishing ninth. However, it was not until January 2008 that he won his first World Cup points in Antholz as 21st in the sprint and 26th in the pursuit. Before that he started at the Biathlon World Championships 2007 in Antholz, where 53rd place in the pursuit was his best result. In the individual race in Östersund at the start of the 2012/2013 World Cup , Jarkko Kauppinen finished tenth and thus finished in the top ten for the first time.
