Municipal council

As in most rural areas in Finland, the rural-liberal Center Party is the strongest party in Vieremä . In the 2012 local elections, she achieved an absolute majority in the council with around 55% of the vote and 13 out of 21 MPs. The municipal list "Vieremä 2000" was again the second largest group with six seats. In addition, the right-wing populist True Finns are represented by two representatives on the municipal council. The conservative National Collection Party lost its only seat.
