Jaromír Klempíř

Jaromír Klempíř (born June 5, 1944 in Velká Chuchle , † July 13, 2016 ) was a Czech pianist and composer.

The brother of the musician and ethnographer Jaroslav Klempíř played the piano from childhood, attended a music school and, after graduating from high school, studied drums, composition and conducting at the Prague Conservatory . During his studies he became a pianist in the rock 'n' roll band EP Hi-Fi (later Olympik ) by Pavel Sedláček in 1961 . When he was not taken on as a pianist after the group was downsized, the lyricist Jiří Štaidl asked him if he was interested in working as an accompanist for Karel Gott . He agreed and built the Apollo group with Staidl and his brother Ladislav .

In the next few years he composed songs such as Láska až za hrob (1965), C'est la vie and Pošli to dál for Karel Gott as well as Kdybys byl varhaník for Vlasta Kahovcová and Kam letí ten čáp for Pavlína Filipovská , who also worked with the group Apollo occurred. Shortly before the group traveled to Las Vegas with Karel Gott, he had a serious car accident and was subsequently tied to the bed for a year. During this time he composed a. a. Title for Jiří Štědron and Helena Vondráčková . After Karel Gott's return from the USA, he composed other successful titles for him ( Proč ptáci zpívají , Hej páni konšelé ), but also composed for singers such as Karel Hála ( Síť houpací ), Hana Pazeltová ( Půjdu dál ) and the Golden Kids . He also composed music for Václav Neckář's films Kulhavý ďábel (1968) and Slasti otce vlasti (1969). In the late 1960s he also worked as an editor at Supraphon and a member of the Swing Quartet and Jazz Revue .

In the 1970s, composed Klempíř next film music pop songs for singers like Hana Zagorová ( Devět Poupat ,) Jana Matysová ( Kouzelný proutek ), Bozena Medková ( Hrušky sládnou ) Miluška Voborníková ( Dobře, že tě, Mamo, mám ) and Waldemar Matuška ( Kluci do nepohody , Dým nad střechami , Jen se přiznej, že ti scházím ). From 1974 he was a member of the Czech TV Orchestra. In the late 1970s he composed the songs from Čas nezralých malin and the song Setkání for Hana Zagorová .

In the 1980s Klempíř was primarily active as a film music composer ( Kluci do nepohody , Dým nad střechami , Jen se přiznej, že ti scházím ), he was also successful with children's songs. In the 1990s he appeared at the Semafor Theater and accompanied Jiří Suchý and Jitka Molavcová at concerts. In 2099 he worked on the music for the film Zemský ráj to napohled . In total, over 100 of his songs have been published on audio media. Klempíř died in 2016 of complications from cancer.
